The
easiest birds to observe
are the vultures, who love to pass the day with a lazy hovering in
the upwind above our Northern slope. They just makes their circles,
round and round, without moving their wings - as if flying is what
everybody should be doing.
We
have two kinds: Black vulture and Turkey vulture.
Although very alike at first glance, they are easy to distinguish
when flying. The Black vulture has black head and white tips on the
wings. The Turkey vulture has read head and a strip of white feather
at the backside of the wings. |
Motmots
Spanish: Guardabarranco
Eumomota superciliosa

The
Turquoise-browed Motmot - Nicaragua’s national bird - is
rather common and easy to observe. It seems that it likes to be
observed sitting in a branch, at it kindly turns around in front of
you, so that you may admire it’s colorful dress from all angles.
The
Blue crowned motmot is also observed, but is much rarer. |
