Experiencing a Nicaraguan farm
Not far away from the Nicaraguan towns with modern facilities, you
can still find a rural culture based on manpower and technologies that have
been outdated in other parts of the world for centuries.
If you would like to spend a day in the fields and try to manage an ox barrel, cut with
a machete, or
simply get in touch with rural lifestyle, we organize
the contact to one of our neighbors.
During the year many different tasks are done on a farm, such as
sewing, weeding, fencing, harvesting and splitting firewood. The work you
will be introduced to will therefore depend on the season.
The day will be a combination of working and learning. Your host will
have time to teach you how to prepare the tools and the working
techniques. If you like, after work, in the afternoon, a representative
from the community will take you around and show you other aspects of
community life, such as education, health or churches.
